McDonald’s F1 Toy Promotion Races Ahead in Latin America

Business | 30 Jun, 2025

McDonald’s has launched a limited-edition Formula 1-themed meal in select Latin American markets, featuring collectible F1 miniature cars — and demand is already outpacing supply.

The promotion, tied to the upcoming F1: The Movie, includes a Quarter Pounder meal and one of two exclusive F1 die-cast models. Unlike typical Happy Meal toys, these 1:43 scale cars — produced by Maisto — are aimed at adult collectors, boasting detailed liveries and sponsor decals.

The toys are not part of the Hot Wheels–F1 licensing deal and instead feature fictional teams from the film, including the AXPGP team and a McDonald’s-branded livery. The promotion is currently available in Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina, with reports of early sellouts prompting restocks.

This campaign follows McDonald’s multi-year commercial agreement with Formula 1 in Latin America, leveraging the popularity of the Mexico City and São Paulo Grands Prix.

While the promotion is not yet confirmed for Asia, the buzz around these collectibles — and their crossover appeal to motorsport and toy fans — could signal broader global interest.
